Picking a color is where every custom Bronco build actually starts. Get it wrong and you’re fighting the color through every other decision. Get it right and the wheels, the roof, the interior, all of it falls into place faster.
What Factory Colors Does the Ford Bronco Come In?
Ten exterior colors right now, plus a couple of special editions. Availability shifts by trim and model year, so we check current options before locking anything in.
- Shadow Black. Deep, solid, reads aggressive rather than luxury. Our most requested base for blacked-out builds.
- Oxford White. Classic and clean. Works under almost any accent package you throw at it.
- Avalanche Gray. Light metallic gray, closer to white than silver. Hides trail dust better than you’d expect.
- Carbonized Gray Metallic. A darker charcoal, more depth than Avalanche Gray.
- Marsh Gray. Muted, earthy, built for trail use.
- Desert Sand. Tan that blends into off-road terrain and shows dirt less over time.
- Velocity Blue Metallic. Bright, saturated, one of the most recognizable Bronco colors on the road.
- Ruby Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat. Changes personality depending on trim, classy one way and sporty the other.
- Shelter Green Metallic. A muted green, the closest thing on the current sheet to the old Eruption Green, popular for retro builds.
- Wimbledon White. Tied to the 60th Anniversary package, usually paired with Ruby Red accents.
Special editions add more range. The Stroppe Edition pairs Oxford White with a Code Orange lower body, a black hood, and a blue roof, a nod to Bill Stroppe’s Baja-racing Broncos. If you want real motorsport history in the paint, that’s the starting point.
What Custom Paint and Finish Options Go Beyond the Factory Sheet?
Factory colors are the floor, not the ceiling. Once a Bronco is in our shop, we do full custom paint, two-tone bodywork, matte and satin finishes, and color-matched accents on bumpers, fenders, and trim, across our entire lineup of custom Broncos.
Most requests land in one of three buckets:
- Blacked-out builds. Satin or matte black over the body, gloss black accents on the grille and trim for contrast. Our highest-demand finish, on both new-generation and Raptor builds.
- Two-tone builds. A painted roof or hood in a contrasting color, same idea as the factory Stroppe treatment but your own pairing.

Every finish goes through the same steps. Prep and inspect the panels, apply the finish, road test the finished vehicle. Nothing leaves our shop as a “custom Bronco” until it’s been checked as a complete build, not just a paint job with a stock chassis underneath.
How Do Wrap Shops Compare to Custom Paint for a Bronco?
A few well-known Bronco shops, Planet Ford in Dallas among them, build their whole color program around vinyl: matte PPF wraps, color-change vinyl, graphics packages laid over the factory paint. Vinyl isn’t a bad option. It’s reversible, it protects the paint underneath, and it costs less than a repaint.
The tradeoff shows up over time. Wraps generally need replacement or touch-up within five to seven years depending on climate, and vinyl can’t fake the depth of a real two-tone paint job or a tinted clearcoat like Ruby Red. We do both. Want the reversibility of vinyl? We’ll build that. Want a finish that’s actually part of the vehicle? We handle full custom paint in-house instead of farming it out to a separate wrap shop, which means one less vendor and one less step in your timeline.
What’s the Most Popular Color for a Custom Bronco Build?
Shadow Black, by a wide margin. It’s the easiest color to build around, pairs with blacked-out trim or gloss accents or nearly any wheel finish without getting busy. Velocity Blue Metallic is a distant second, for buyers who’d rather stand out than disappear into the blacked-out crowd.
For retro-styled builds, Oxford White and Shelter Green Metallic get requested most, both because they’re the closest current colors to the original Bronco palette from the 1970s and 80s.
How Much Does a Custom Color or Finish Add to Bronco Pricing?
Depends on scope, not just the color. A blackout wrap costs less than a full two-tone repaint with color-matched trim. Can You Get a Custom Vintage Bronco in a Modern Color?
Yes. A vintage restomod can wear any color on our current palette, not just period-correct shades. Some clients want their restomod looking exactly like it rolled off the line in 1978. Others want a vintage body in a color that never existed on the original vehicle. Both come through regularly, and our restoration process handles either one the same way. Yes. Common request: factory base color, custom-painted roof or accent panel, rather than a full repaint.
How long does custom paint add to build time?
Depends on scope. A blackout accent package adds the least. A full two-tone repaint with color-matched trim takes longer since the prep and cure time stack up.
Will a wrap or custom paint void my Bronco’s factory warranty?
